Microsoft is putting the finishing touches on Windows 8.1, but users may have to wait until October to get their hands on the latest version of the operating system.


Microsoft had announced that it would deliver a Windows 8.1 device manufacturers in late August. The company is on track to deliver on its promise, but it's not meant to make the software available to consumers, at the same time, according to ZDNet.


From Windows 8.1 application is expected to send to existing machines with new devices in October. The time gap allows device manufacturers drivers and search for errors in their products tested before having to deal with these issues with the public.
